Poems

This paragraph is the introduction to the poetry section on my web site. Many writers have one, and many of those writers have introductory paragraphs to them. This is exactly like that.

What Would You Say?

Poems, posted on April 25, 2010 at 09h10

What would you say if we spoke
To each other between breaths in the night
If we pursued this perfect passion
And I stayed with you until light
If we both awoke together
And we never began the day
If I asked if I could stay again
If I asked, what would you say?

Drifting

Poems, posted on April 11, 2010 at 07h02

on the old wooden bridge
where you and I lived,
thoughts of you passed through my mind;
like wind through the trees,
you, my casual breeze,
neither broke me nor caused me to bind;
but in the mid of October,
the river spilled over
and left none of that rot-wood behind;
so now I must drift
on remains of the bridge
but better this than to drown in the tide

In Silence, In Ashes

Poems, posted on April 5, 2010 at 08h44

Today we fade to the grayness of the sun
The arms that held us up are now uncomfortable and undone
A fire burns us all to life and its ashes we become
So let me now just sip my wine in silence new and none

Whispers

Poems, posted on March 15, 2010 at 12h50

Tonight you and I are shadows
We move through the room unseen
Dressed in each other’s darkness
Delicately adrift in a dream
It sometimes can seem so shallow
To presume that we’re asleep
Waiting, wanting, and waking
Whispers, weaving, and weak

Where We Kissed

Poems, posted on February 19, 2010 at 02h02

Here and there are where we kissed
This fleeting feeling, now barely missed
Bare, we twist, insist in sin
Persist in pursuing this place within
I mistake my patience and desire fades
Awaiting a way to wade through waves
You drown yourself in tides of time
Entwined in wine and finding mind
A stranger waits to show intent
A stranger way to grow intense
Your pale eclipse of embrace through mist
My graceful waste of greatful lips

Eulogy

Poems, posted on February 5, 2010 at 09h24

Tonight we have died…
And though you died sooner, the cause is not mine
I spoke nothing but truth, subdued by your lines
But reduced to now see the deceit on your mind

Tonight we have died…
We’re worn by reflection of self over time
Our bodies still warm, we’re mourning the crime
The glow of our passion was the warning light’s shine

Tonight we have died…
I’m hearing the echoes of all you denied
It’s louder than every breath through your smile
And yet you oppress it with restful revile

Tonight we have died…
But while we were living, I caved to your pride
Afraid of disgraceful surrender of side
The simple infliction that killed you and I

Tonight we have died.

All This, Because I Have Lied

Poems, posted on December 23, 2009 at 11h05

my heart now feels so empty
with only this pain inside
I twist and turn intensely
all this, because I have lied
I only offer intention
my strength is in my pride
incredible indiscretion
all this, because I have lied

The Setting Sun We See

Poems, posted on December 19, 2009 at 10h05

the setting sun we see is a flickering flame
darker each day it dances and wittles away
a beautiful glow that grows so frightfully faint
through a canvas of carbon clouds in poisonous paint
the setting sun we see is a flickering flame
blown out by the breath of death today
shining a little less than yesterday
a monument to this mess that man has made

My Dear, You Are

Poems, posted on September 29, 2009 at 04h44

My dear, you are the dirt,
The beginning in which I grow;
You hold my roots upon the Earth
You are all my strength below

My dear, you are the dirt,
You catch me when I fall;
You are each place I need you
You are, my love, my all

How Dangerous It Is…

Poems, posted on July 17, 2009 at 05h30

How dangerous it is to climb
When your feet are always slipping
And your only safety line
Is around your neck and gripping

How dangerous it is to start
When your mind is set on quitting
And the seed inside your heart
Only blossoms into wilting

How dangerous it is to breathe
When one day you won’t be living
And with each breath you further leave
Simply slowly drifting

How dangerous it is to write
When everything read is wrong
And our thought is being wiped
As we all aid it along

How dangerous it is to smile
When we do so without reason
And we hide behind it while
Our emotions flow through weakened

How dangerous it is to be
When we’re all just humans being
And we’re not as nearly free
As accustomed to believing
